58% of California's voters approved Proposition 37, the California State Lottery Act. 34% of the CA Lottery revenues, by law, must go to public education.

The California Lottery provides supplemental funding to California schools while funding projects in the local communities. More than 94 cents of every dollar spent by California Lottery players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes and retail compensation.

According to state lottery figures, since 2000, state lottery players have contributed $1 billion dollars to public schools each year. Since the California State Lottery began in 1985, California lottery players have contributed more than $24 billion to public education.
