I bought a 10$ ticket and won 1 million, so I thought, well that ticket was worth 650K when i went to cash it in at the lottery office in lansing, what happened to the 1 mil. it said i won? Well it is based on an investment the state makes that day,I walked out with 454K after taxes. 1 mil my keester, you won't even get close, this is a scam they are pulling on lottery players. I'm happy to have what i got, but after 30 years of playing lottery, well, screwed again by the state of mich. lottery games, this a real piece of work they are running in the michigan lottery. Good Luck

I was going thru old comments and found this one. I can't believe I did not spot this post from screwed dated June of 2005 before now.

I have to say that I totally agree with screwed, it is paramount to false advertising what the state lotteries do when advertising lottery winning amounts.

The latest Powerball (2-22-06) was advertised at a jackpot amount of $365 Million dollars. The actual cash payout received by the eight winners was a total of about $120 Million, that means there was a difference of about $245 Million.

What I find amazing is that the 'left over' $245 Million just kind of disappears into thin air after the drawing.

Granted, the winners only paid a few dollars to win millions, but it still seems wrong to me to tell people they are going to win a specific amount of money, then give them far far less than what was promised.
