In operation for just about ten years now, Pharaoh’s Palace is a casino that does not capture top of mind awareness when you think of Macau. This is a real shame, as the casino here is pretty nice and the Landmark Hotel it sits inside is definitely above average for what you get in Macau.
Located close to the President Hotel, Pharaoh’s Palace is situated on Macau’s Amizade Strip. The casino sits on the third floor of the Landmark Hotel and is actually quite small, especially when you compare it to the other casinos in Macau.
We found there to be an adequate selection of games spread across the 65 gaming tables, with the following games on offer: Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud, Sic-Bo, Roulette, and a Wheel of Fortune type game.
As is usually the case, most of the games available at Pharaoh’s Palace are Baccarat, or Commission Free Baccarat. We did find there to be more variety here than in 90% of the other Macau casinos, which is definitely a plus if you aren’t a die-hard Baccarat player.
In terms of the hotel, the Landmark is a pretty nice hotel that is large and has reasonable rates. The rooms are a bit dated when compared to other luxury brands, but are clean and definitely spacious. If you are looking for a good spot to spend the night without paying through the nose for good amenities, the Landmark Hotel should definitely be given consideration.
Dining is also good at the Landmark, with five different dining options being offered. We enjoyed Varanda, with its Portuguese food really striking a positive note on our palate. Other good spots that we visited included Kiwato Japanese Restaurant with its choice Japanese Cuisine, and the King of Kings, which offers Chinese food and hosts the Kiwato in its space.
Overall, we feel that the Pharaoh’s Palace is a forgotten gem in Macau. The casino is a bit small, but offers a great variety of games and sits inside a clean and spacious hotel that has great dining choices.
If you are looking for a hotel and casino that is off the beaten path and a great place to stay at a reasonable price, you should definitely give Pharaoh’s Palace and the Landmark Hotel a look.
