Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe
Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe Slot Machine
Novomatic has a habit of taking their older slot titles, giving them a fresh coat of (virtual) paint, and calling them ‘Deluxe’. Dolphin’s Pearl Deluxe is a great example of exactly this process – the original was a live casino favourite for many years. This is a nicely produced slot, with animated symbols and a generous free spins bonus round. Don’t expect too much in the way of features or action, this is really an old-school slot with a redesign. Like many Novomatic slots, this is one for the purists – and not a game which is aiming to compete with the interactive and multi-featured games of other the casino slots manufacturers.
Graphically, the underwater theme works well. The symbols are detailed, with a dolphin, ray, various fish and an oyster – with the pearl featuring prominently. When you get a win, the symbols become animated. These are on the cute side, though there is something about them which feels a little wrong too. I’m not sure if it is the movement, or the speed of the movement. Overall a great looking game; especially compared to some of the earlier Novomatic efforts. Sounds include the standard reel spinning ‘tune’ which has been irritating generations of Novomatic slots fans. When you hit the free spins bonus round you get some chilled background music instead. This noticeably changes the atmosphere of the game, and makes getting back to the bleeping spin sound all the more jarring.
The free spins round does not include any unique in reel behaviour. You can win 15 spins, during which all wins get a 3x multiplier. If you hit any of the top combinations during this game then the upside is obviously very big.
