Transferring wilds
Wild symbols are always a joy to behold when they end up on the reels. Their ability to substitute for other symbols and create winning combinations often allow players to be able to get a steady stream of wins. They don’t necessarily get you the largest wins in base play but they can certainly keep that account balance of yours ticking over nicely.
Variations on a Theme
As with any feature that is introduced into the slot machine world, there are always further developments that take place. This isn’t an industry that likes to stand still for too long, especially with the number of game developers in the market. Therefore, the wild symbol has seen many a change in recent years.

There are now many different types of wild symbols, they aim to do the same in regards to substituting for other symbols but behave in slightly different ways. Whether it’s a sticky wild, shifting wild or expanding wild they all help produce wins and in bonus games that can really be lucrative.

Another version of the wild symbol is the transferring wild. This is particularly popular in games produced by WMS. They produce games for a number of online casinos so it won’t be a problem finding one of their games featuring a transferring wild to play.

How They Work
WMS produce some slot games that definitely look a little bit different from others that you might play. Take their slot game ‘Fire Queen’ for example. Rather than there being just the one set of reels that dominate the screen, this game has a grand total of 11 reels. On the left hand side there’s are two 2×2 reels and on the right hand side there’s a 3×6 reel set. The wild symbol in this game is the Fire Queen herself and when it appears on a reel then it’ll transfer to the other one in the corresponding position. This really gives you an excellent chance of getting some good wins.

Now this really makes for an interesting game as the wild spreads across the reels. Another game featuring these transferring wilds is the WMS game ‘Kiss’ based on the American rock group. This features a five-reel slot on the left hand side that has four rows. On the right hand side there is another five-reel slot that has 12 rows, that’s the colossal reel set. When any four stacked wilds appear on the main reel set, this will transfer to the colossal reel set in its corresponding position and turn the whole reel wild. That can really get you some decent wins.

This isn’t a feature that is seen in too many games but it is certainly a welcome one when it does make an appearance. You definitely need to have a good read of the paytable to fully understand just how the transferring wilds work in the game that you are playing.
