It’s when you open the pay-table on the Jewels of India slot that things get a little strange. It seems that the gemstone reference is figurative rather than literal as the high paying symbols on the slot are three beautiful traditionally dressed ladies, all worthy of a Bollywood starring role. I call them high pay but there’s very little variation. The most stunning of all the girls offers a massive 2500x reward for all 10 icons (5x double symbols) whilst the other girls and the tiger and elephant which make up the bespoke symbols, all offer exactly the same 1000x prize.
The light Indian silk backdrop of the reels also features a number of playing card symbols. Clearly, the Indians are not massive poker fans as the win values here are a mere 200x for all 10 ace icons, with the king, queen and jack offering just 100x your stake. If you didn’t feel this was redressed enough by the value of the other symbols, never fear. The wild icon on the game, in addition to representing a double symbol in any combination it fills, also offers a massive 10000x fixed jackpot if you can collect all five on an active pay-line. This potential dream spin alone is enough to warrant always having all 30 lines active.
The graphical work on the Jewels of India is a real treat, even by High 5 Games standards. There’s nice little animations for each of the character symbols and individual little sound effects totally in keeping with the theme for win combinations. Although there’s no actual reel music to speak of on this slot, that’s a little bit of a let-down after the fun audio on games like the Gypsy slot and the obvious opportunities with Indian music, but given how good everything else is, we can probably let it pass.
